Welcome to the Jacaranda room on this glorious Thursday. For the very lucky few, we started the day with feeding our latest pet Booboo our rabbit. Jamie, Charlotte and William were very excited when our rabbit started eating the fresh grass we gave him from our very own secrete garden. They couldn’t believe how fast he ate it.
Our art experience lasted all morning and the children worked in small groups, first playing with the dry coloured sand and then we added glue to the paper which made the sand very wet. Some children like Holly and Freja really loved this new gritty texture that the sand turned into, whereas William and Jacob, couldn’t wait to wash their hands. They both preferred it when the sand was dry, swirling it around the table, laughing at each other when the sand flew of the table.
For group time we read several books like ‘The farmer in the dell’ and ‘Juicy juicy green grass’ but their absolute favourite was ‘We are going on a croc hunt’. The children loved it when Nisha cried out ‘It’s a crocodile’ and they all went ‘aahh’.
This afternoon the children received a real cool treat from Natalie, William’s mum. In celebration for William’s birthday she made Elmo birthday cup cakes. They not only look good but they were very yummy too. From all us, William, we wish you a big happy birthday and to Natalie, thank you so much, the children couldn’t stop smiling while they were eating their cup cake.
Finally we had a fire drill and I must say we are very proud of all our Jacarandas. They behaved beautifully, staying close to one of their educators, listening closely to what needs to be done and not once did they panic. But a huge pat on the back goes to the three helpers who assisted in pushing the cot to our gathering point, Zach, Vanessa and Holly and they also helped bring it back to our room. Well done to the three amigos.
Thank you to all the families in the Jacaranda room, Nisha, Lina and Rana wish you a very happy Thursday.
