Home schooling Day 1

Was an absolute nightmare..

It started by Will and myself trying to figure out goggle classroom and Toby decided this was a great time for a meltdown as he wanted TV.

We struggled to get through the tasks… having a 2 and 4yr old to also look after was difficult

Today is a new day and we went for the ride first to set us up for a good day!

School out- Lockdown!

Coronavirus- COVID 19 has impacted on us so much and the rate of infection globally is alarming therefore measures have been enforced this past few weeks for:

-social distancing of 1.5metres when outside, 4m2 when in side

-washing hands, coughing into elbow and don’t touch your face

Unfortunately the past week, rates are climbing and many people are not listening in Australia though also NSW with thousands at the beach etc. Strict measures have now been enforced to flatten the curve of virus and attempt to reduce burden on healthcare and the economy.

We are now following:

-self isolation at home

-lockdown of all non essential services and business

-school closures with home schooling being lead by DPT education at home online, minimal teachers will remain at schools so as frontline workers can be supported with schooling for their kids but the same learning as what will be provided at home

-kindy and daycares are currently still open though Government encouraging kids to be kept at home, it will only be a matter of time as currently people are self isolating though being charged as these remain open with many job losses this isn’t sustainable -Border closures of Australia- only residents and citizens allowed entry, with likely state borders to be enacted shortly

-no non essential travel

Scary and unsure times, we will see where this leads us….

Will rode to school today

For the first time Will rode his bike to school and locked it up in the racks to ride home. 🚲

Mummy pushed Jack in the pram and Toby rode the scooter(all the way there and back!)

They had such fun and we might have to make it a Friday special as we normally don’t have any pressing engagements to run off too!!

Boys will be boys!!!

Will is growing up..

He is starting to make his brothers breakfast in the morning and his own toast

He even made his own wrap with ham, mayonnaise and letter for lunch yesterday..

He even tried to make us a cuppa this am but we were very sure we don’t want him touching the kettle as it’s not safe, but beautiful sentiment!

Toby’s cute head spins

Toby is very tired currently from the start of 3 day kindy and listening is a chore..

He has been slamming doors and acting out, calling everyone names when emotional and unsure why he feels like that… we have been very supportive but it’s challenging to say the least!

THEN…..

This morning he says “mummy when I grow up I want to be just like you” and when I asked why he says “because you look so beautiful”!! 😍😍😍

That kid…. he is a treasure!!

Toby starts 3 day Kindy

Well the time has come for 4yr old Toby to start at Harbord community kindy- he was a little unsettled for the first 2 weeks though this week he handled it like a pro.

Happy to kiss, cuddle and wave goodbye to mumma in the morning…

Monday- Cassidy picks him up

Tuesday- Pa Pete or Granny Jude pick him up

Wednesday – Mummy picks him up

His teachers are Lilly, Michelle, Anne Maree and Elke and he seems to like them all… He is already leaps and bounds ahead with his learning and insight.. can’t wait to see how he develops from a little 4yr old to a big boy 5 in November!!!

We are so proud of you Tobe xx

Will starts year 1

Well we are now into week 3 actually and Will came home with his first class award for “Personal Best”- excellent effort!

Mrs Leanne Smith and Ms Kerry Moll are his teachers this year and he seems to have a really good class.. he likes his class mates and hasn’t been having any troubles at all..

We are so proud of him..

He has homework and is busy with it, wanting more, earning for the learning actually which is excellent:

His reading is coming along really well, he is doing maths on Matific on the iPad and doing well…

We writes neatly and has pride in his work so that’s all we can ask…

He has just been planning his news with daddy for tomorrow and is going to talk about his cousins Hugh and his boat, how he saved his $ and Will has a ride!!

Camper Trailer Modification

For a while I had been wanting to do a really simple, but awesome mod on the camper trailer. Pictures tell a thousand words, but effectively this small mod stops the plywood being hacked into by the bed end supports by adding a metal plate where the support fits. After I worked out how to do it, and when I had picked up Will from kindy, he came home and he was my big helper! So pleased this is finally done:
