50 minute spin -complete!

Well this morning I had to travel from afar to get to the gym, ok ok..only Eastwood but I didn’t want to be late.
Typically, and as per ‘Geoff’ I was ridicoulously early (by about 50 mins, ssssh..I thought the traffic would be awful).
So…before my 0930 Spin Class I hopped on the treadmill and belted out a 1.3km walk where I burned about 100 calories. Then I did a few weights and then it was nearly time to start the Spin Class.

Well well well..another new instructor (to me) and she was hard core. The 50 minute session was gruelling but I did feel I coped a bit better than my previous two attempts.

It was (eventually) over before it began and I was a sweat bucket…gross I know.

Today’s food intake:

Brekky – bowl of healthy cereal with light white milk.

Lunch – tuna and salad wrap + diet coke.

Afternoon snack
– one apple and a few (left over) pizza crusts as I was baby sitting and the boys didn’t want their crusts AND I was ravenous!

Dinner – I’m cooking one of the CSIRO recipes – Barraumundi Curry with rice..yum. Dessert will be same as last night – yoghurt (low fat) and fresh strawberries.

Barramundi Green Cury with Rice from the CSIRO diet and well being book!

The next gym visit will be Saturday or Sunday and then an 0600hrs spin class with my bestest buddy Troy on Monday morning.

PS – Had to see my GP today so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to ask her what my ‘ideal’ body weight should be…let’s just say I have a looooong way to go!

Wednesday Feb 17th – RPM and some weight loss!! – Day 3

Another gruelling session at the gym tonight with Troy.
We had a male instructor this time and he was a LOT more hardcore than the chic we had on Monday morning.
Did 50 minutes of sheer torture on the bikes, with a lot of sitting/standing whilst riding. After that we did some weights, then I did a 15min walk (1km) followed by a nice spa!!

What did I eat today I hear you ask? Well, even if you didn’t ask here’s the breakdown:

Brekky –

  • 3 pieces of brown toast with vegemite, (no butter/marge).
  • One cup of coffee, no sugar, light white milk and;
  • one hard boiled egg.

Lunch By the time this came around I was hungry. Should’ve had one, but had two;

  • Brown bread sandwiches, no butter/marge. One had smoked salmon and avacado, the other one had egg, lettuce and tomato.
  • Also had a can of diet coke.

Dinner – After my gym session I was STARVING, so when I got ‘home’ I had:

  • Small serving of home made chicken schnitzel
  • Salad
  • Small serving of mashed potato.

Weight loss thus far (4 days) = 1.3kgs! (that’s really the honest truth according to the scales at the gym, wearing EXACTLY the same clothes)!

Sunday’s weigh in = 97.8kgs!!

Today’s weigh in = 96.5kgs!!

I have another spin cycle session booked for this Friday…bring it on!!

Geoff & Bel – The Bikers!

Well today Bel and I took our biggest motorbike ride together, and had a blast! We rode from Freshwater to West Head via Forest Way and Mona Vale Roads. When we got to West Head we got out the Thermos (thanks Jan and Ane!) and had a cuppa whilst watching the beautiful afternoon sun on Palm Beach and Lion Island! Here’s some pics:

A quick update – from Hobart, Tasmania

Having been down here in Tassie (the Apple Isle) for 3 days I think I could easily get used to the environment. The air is soo clean, the people so friendly and no one seems to be in a rush. It has been a very refreshing change from the fast pace of Sydney! So I atted the ICE (no, not that type of ICE) conference (Intensive Care Education) here at the Grand Chancellor Hotel. Two days of mostly informative and interesting lectures, a night of drunked-ness and fun at the sponsored dinner then today a bit of sight seeing, a walk into the centre of the city, then a bus up to Mt Wellington, where it was -1.0 degree celcius. The view on the way up was great, but sadly by the time we got up there, there significant cloud cover. We went from there to Mt Nelson, which was beautiful, lower down and no cloud. Clear sky looking down over Hobart and the Tasman Bridge.

Just had a yummy dinner at Fish Frenzy, local Tasmanian seafood produce! Yum. If you’re down here I highly recommend it!  www.fishfrenzy.com.au

Tomorrow I’m off to the Cascade Brewery and then home. Can’t wait to see Bel :).

The end of a great weekend

This weekend Bel and I got away for a little ‘time out’ and went North (through and into the rain!) to see Nice and Greg in Long Jetty, then onto a beautiful weekend at Tanilba Bay, near Nelson Bay. No photos, it was a magical weekend 🙂

Life Ain’t Fair

Today I had a particularly shithouse day. My patient was a 33 year old woman who lost her battle to cancer today, she was married and had come on a little holiday/reprieve and had fallen ill quite suddenly on Sunday. She passed away (quite peacefully) at 2:45pm today, but it was hard…her family were SUCH nice people. RIP RM.

By Any Means – A ride with Charley Boorman!

What an INCREDIBLE day to say the least!!!
I managed to find out that Charley Boorman (the other half of Ewan McGregor’s series ‘The Long Way Down and The ‘Long Way Round’ was in Sydney and organising what turned out to be a MASSIVE motorbike convoy from Freshwater Beach up to Frazers Beach near The Entrance on the central coast. What a blast. The local newspaper did a story on it too, with a few snaps – http://manly-daily.whereilive.com.au/news/story/charley-s-convoy/

 Take a look at – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OWpcmPR3wBM (we appear at 1min 31secs) 🙂

More photos to come, but this is my fave from the day. Me and Charley:

By Any Means – Tomorrow, May 18th 2009

This afternoon I feel like a child the night before Christmas Day! Tomorrow I am participating in a FANTASTIC event! Charley Boorman, the other half of the ‘Long Way Down’ and ‘Long Way Round’ series with Actor and fellow motorycle enthusiast Ewan McGregor (who won’t be there tomorrow) is riding his motorbike from Freshwater Reserve (only a few minutes from where we live!) up to the Central Coast to Frazers Beach.
To say I’m excited would be an understatement!

Here’s a little blurb about it:

Monday May 11, 2009

A busy few days again. Jude’s Breakfast on Sunday for Mum’s Day, lots of post processing in the middle of the day, followed by a walk with my beautiful wife, then a dinner with Mrs T in Manly.

Today (Monday) was a 12hr shift at Vinnies. Not a bad shift, ended up with a 3rd year nursing student to teach all day, tiring but ok.  Tonight I spoke with Steve Chambers who’s made a fantastic PSCS3 script for SMP images…go Steve!

A great day, followed by a great night!

Bel helped Geoff out today at Maroubra for the Mitchell family photo shoot, what fun! 4 adults with 5 kids, all under the age of 5! Wow. We got some helium balloons and had some fun at the end of Torrington Rd, Jack Van Reserve. Beautiful headland, amazing light and lots of fun, laughs and photos! After that we had a brilliant night again with Craig, Katie, Paul, Rachel and Scarlett! Bring on Mum’s Day!
