So after a nice weekend with Jane, Steve, Liam and Flynn in Dubbo and a little bit of over indulgance (not too much), I got back to the gym tonight and went nuts.
814calories in 55 minutes and 30.1kms later! UNREAL! Felt fantastic (but nearly dead) afterwards!!
Here’s the proof:

It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog but I’m still going strong.
After coming off my motorbike on Good Friday (April 2nd) I was limited to what I could do at the gym and couldn’t really exercise much at all but I kept on eating super healthy and well yeah..I’ve now lost 9kgs! Only another 7kg to go! 🙂 ‘only’ hahahaha.
Well, after a rather large weekend of fun and festivites (aka boozing) at Pip and Andrew’s BEAUTIFUL wedding in Mollymook I thought that I would’ve put on some weight, but I came straight from Mollymook yesterday (Sunday) morning and did a session at the gym followed by an evening shift at work. This morning I did a spin class and I’m still sitting steady at the 6kg mark which I’m quite ok about. With 3 more gym sessions already booked in for this week I hope to get some more kgs off! All in all it’s going well. It’s been a little while since the update. Apart from this weekend just gone I’m still really eating very cautiously and carefully with higher protein input and less carbs. I am definitely feeling better for it!
Well, it’s been a little while since I’ve blogged my weight loss stuff…but…as the title tells you can still see that I’m going as strong as I can and have lost NEARLY SIX KILOS in 5 weeks!! STOKED I am.
I’m still eating VERY well, and watching everything that goes into my mouth. A main motivator at the moment is when I see something I’d really like to eat, I think about how long it’d take me to spin/cycle/ride/walk or run it off…it seems to be a good way for me to prevent anything too horrendous from a calorie perspective going into my mouth.
People at work are now saying that they can see it in my face that I’ve lost weight. My tummy ‘love handles’ are going, which is great. Still a fair way to go, but I MAY just achieve my 8kgs in 6 weeks mark. Not likely but possible.
Thanks for reading!
Off I go again, this time at a reasonable hour of 0930hrs then to work.
Brekky: Horley’s Protein Shake with 250mls skim milk, no fruit added today.
Lunch: 3 slice sandwhich with lean ham, lettuce, alfalfa sprout and avacado + one glass of water.
Dinner: Left over Barramundi green curry with rice (small serve) + bbq chicken breast (no skin)
Hi, ho hi ho it’s off to the gym I go (Saturday)…
Today I have my ‘ignition startup’ session at the gym with a personal instructor. Not really a personal training session but more of an assesement of my fitness level and what goals I want to achieve. If it’s not tough (not sure what to expect) then I will do some cardio workout after the one hour assessment.
The assessment with Tony from Virgin Gym went well…we had a good chat then he showed me the ropes (well not really) of learning how to use some of the weights which he said was imperative to continuing weight loss and that I should do them before the cardio stuff. All made sense to me. Another gym session tomorrow (spin class) at 0930hrs…woot! After my session with Tony…I hopped on the cardio equipment and did:
Run/walk
267 cals
2.8km
MHR 180
avg speed 8.5km/hr
Step
20 mins
Floors 77.1
202 cals
Spin/Ride
25 mins
261 cals
14.7km
Total calories burned: 730!!
Brekky: 1 x 250ml protein shake (Horleys) with a ripe banana, blended with skim milk. 1 x large skim milk flat white, no sugar.
Lunch: 2 large glasses of water and an apple.
Dinner: Terriyaki fish and rice with a small simple salad…yum! A cup of yummy green tea (thanks Leigh Stark) and a bottle of powerade (not so good re sugar content but meh).
So today I’m not going to the gym but will go for a walk a bit later. I’ve been to the gym the last 5 days in a row so figure one day off is ok.
Brekky: 3 pieces of brown bread/toast with avacodo + 2 cups of coffee (no sugar). I’m slowly getting used to the no sugar thing!
Lunch: 1 sushi/salmon pack + 1 terryaki chicken shushi roll and a diet coke.

Exercise today: A brisk 30 minute walk after dinner.
My wrist watch has begun to losen up…freaky, but oh so good 🙂
Quieter day today, 12hr night shifts can get in the way, however I managed a session at the gym this afternoon. No class, just 3 x 20 minute sessions on the cardio stuff. some weights and 20 situps. The cardio stuff consisted of:

I just realised I’ve been to the gym for the last 5 days in a row!! FREAAAKY! Tomorrow will be day 6.
Well it was another early rise this morning, alarm set for 0520hrs, and out by 0530hrs…class commenced with pace at 0600hrs and went hard core for a gruelling (I like that word) 45 minutes! It was good this morning cos Troy came along and we got to laugh at each other etc. I followed the spin class with a few weights, upper and lower body, then a 15 minute walk on the treadmill (120 calories burnt!). After that I did 20 situps…and then…ooooh yeah, the spa! Woooot!
Brekky: 1 large Berry Recovery Protein Shake, consisting of: 40g vanilla protein powder, granny smith apple, mixed berries and apple juice..yummy.

Lunch: 1 Teriyaki roll with rice. One glass of water and a V8 vegie/fruit drink (300mls).
Dinner: My famous (err..ok) CSIRO barramundi fish curry.
Today I think I’m going to buy the CSIRO health and well being book.
Todays weigh in: 94.8kgs!
How surprised am I? VERY! I’m not sure if I actually believe the scales at the gym. Having said that I have radically modified my diet and calorie intake.
Today I weighed in on the very same scales as I have been all week to observe that I’m now 95.3kg’s! I think my eyes popped out of my head when I saw the numbers there. And yes, I was and have worn the exact same clothes/shoes whilst weighing myself each time.
It was a good personal session today although I’m a bit sore now. Here’s what I did:
Run 2.52km
Cal 256 burned
20 mins
Ave 7.6km/hr
Elipt Trainer 0.98km

20 mins
Spin

225 Cals burned.
Mins 20
Some mild weight training upper and lower body + 20 situps.
Total calories burned today: 694!!
Back tomorrow (Monday) morning at 0600hrs of torture for a spin class with Troy. BRING IT ON!
Well it’s a very hot Sunday morning here and after a bit of a tidy up I will be heading back to the gym for a personal workout of 1hr on the cardio machines as well as a few random weights. Of course I will delight at the end of it by jumping into the Spa!
Brekky (11am):
Small amount of left overs from last night’s dinner, thai chicken with vegies and rice + a bananna. (yes, weird combo)
Lunch: Two Japanese suhi rolls with terriyaki chicken and a big glass of water.
Dinner: Three scrambled eggs, a splash of white light milk, a tiny bit of grated cheese, 3 cherry tomatoes and 3 pieces of white toast with no butter. 1 diet coke.
I’m VERY stoked with myself.ÂÂ
Just did a weigh in and my total weight loss in 6 days is 1.9kgs! Wooohooo!
I’m currently at the gym and just burned nearly 900 calories! I feel energised and it’s helping me take my mind off other yucky stuff going on in my life.
Breakfast:
2 pieces of white toast with scrambled eggs and half tomato + 1 skim milk flat white.
Lunch:
1 apple, 1 banana, some celery and some carrot.ÂÂ
1 glass of water.
Dinner: Take away Thai, with chicken and vegies (no nasty fatty/peanut or other sauces thanks!)chilli and corriander with a small serve of white rice + 2 big glasses of water. Oooh yeah!
I was going to take a photo of it, but I was too hungry after my minimalistic lunch to be bothered with a photo! Ha!
Well this morning I had to travel from afar to get to the gym, ok ok..only Eastwood but I didn’t want to be late.
Typically, and as per ‘Geoff’ I was ridicoulously early (by about 50 mins, ssssh..I thought the traffic would be awful).
So…before my 0930 Spin Class I hopped on the treadmill and belted out a 1.3km walk where I burned about 100 calories. Then I did a few weights and then it was nearly time to start the Spin Class.
Well well well..another new instructor (to me) and she was hard core. The 50 minute session was gruelling but I did feel I coped a bit better than my previous two attempts.
It was (eventually) over before it began and I was a sweat bucket…gross I know.
Today’s food intake:
Brekky – bowl of healthy cereal with light white milk.
Lunch – tuna and salad wrap + diet coke.
Afternoon snack – one apple and a few (left over) pizza crusts as I was baby sitting and the boys didn’t want their crusts AND I was ravenous!
Dinner – I’m cooking one of the CSIRO recipes – Barraumundi Curry with rice..yum. Dessert will be same as last night – yoghurt (low fat) and fresh strawberries.

The next gym visit will be Saturday or Sunday and then an 0600hrs spin class with my bestest buddy Troy on Monday morning.
PS – Had to see my GP today so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to ask her what my ‘ideal’ body weight should be…let’s just say I have a looooong way to go!
So this morning I was up extra early (5:20am) to go fishing with an old mate who used to write for ‘All Saint’s’ – he has an amazing boat and house in Birchgrove and we took off at 6am for some fishing, sadly we caught nothing but the company, coffee and surroundings were awesome. We ventured out the heads in his 28ft Mustang 5L 500hp boat (beautiful) but the swell was a little less than massive and we decided to come back ‘in’ and up via the Spit Bridge, then stopped at Bantry Bay.
No exercise this morning, however my food intake has consisted of:
Brekky:
Small bowl of nutrigrain with full cream milk.
2 x instant coffees, normal milk, no sugar.
Lunch:
Japanese salmon Oyakadon with miso soup + one can of dc.

Dinner:
Roasted tomato with chicken/basil salad and a corn cob for entree.
Another gruelling session at the gym tonight with Troy.
We had a male instructor this time and he was a LOT more hardcore than the chic we had on Monday morning.
Did 50 minutes of sheer torture on the bikes, with a lot of sitting/standing whilst riding. After that we did some weights, then I did a 15min walk (1km) followed by a nice spa!!
What did I eat today I hear you ask? Well, even if you didn’t ask here’s the breakdown:
Brekky –
- 3 pieces of brown toast with vegemite, (no butter/marge).
- One cup of coffee, no sugar, light white milk and;
- one hard boiled egg.
Lunch – By the time this came around I was hungry. Should’ve had one, but had two;
- Brown bread sandwiches, no butter/marge. One had smoked salmon and avacado, the other one had egg, lettuce and tomato.
- Also had a can of diet coke.
Dinner – After my gym session I was STARVING, so when I got ‘home’ I had:
- Small serving of home made chicken schnitzel
- Salad
- Small serving of mashed potato.
Weight loss thus far (4 days) = 1.3kgs! (that’s really the honest truth according to the scales at the gym, wearing EXACTLY the same clothes)!
Sunday’s weigh in = 97.8kgs!!
Today’s weigh in = 96.5kgs!!
I have another spin cycle session booked for this Friday…bring it on!!
Fresh new membership..MUST use!
Up before the birds for a 6:30am start at the gym for my first ever spin class. Whoa…what torture.
Had a female instructor who was great, only dry wretched 3 times..followed this class by a 10 minute walk and then a very relaxing spa.
Food diary starting today COMING SOON!
Well,
After umm and aahing for many many months I decided to do something about the excess kg’s that were put on over the last few years and joined a gym (Virgin Active) with my bestest mate in the world Troy.
We joined up on Sunday 14.02.10 and after signing up we did some cardio workout including:
20 minutes on an elliptical trainer, 20 minutes on a bike and then another 20 minutes on a running machine. After this we did some stretches.
Not only am I going to the gym but I’ve seriously modified my diet and intake and will be giving you all a journey into my goals as each day/week goes past.
