10 Tough Days

Wow…no one ever said parenting was easy, the last week to ten 10 has proven that. We all came down with a nasty cold…all of us!

It started with Will who began with fevers, mostly at night..typically runny nose, cough etc. Next to go down was no surprises, little Tobes. I think Toby and Nattie were hit the worst. Poor Tobes lost his appetite and had night fevers and had rigors which then made him spew…many times. He got used to knowing what was soon to happen and would ask for ‘bowl’. Poor little guy.

Next was Mummy who developed a cold which then went to her chest and she and Tobes and Will eventually needed antibiotics. Of course we can’t leave our little Jack and Daddy who both succumbed to it about 5 days later. We were meant to go camping that weekend to Bateau Bay (Blue Lagoon) but after some considerations we decided to pull the pin and not go! Great decision as it was very very cold!

Poor Tobes, captured well mid chuck: (one for the 21st perhaps mate?)

Will hits a milestone – top bunk!

Tonight Noni & Jim are staying with us and we managed to convince (it wasnt hard) to sleep om the top bunk and it took about 3-5 minutes before he was fast asleep while Daddy stood there (on the step ladder). This long weekend so far has been really wet and cold. Today though we had a few breaks in the weather so I took the two older boys out around the block for a little bike ride, they loved it.

Jack is about to roll over!!

Our baby boy and so close to rolling from back to front and will have it in days for sure!! He gets so far and just can’t finish it off!! It’s not for want of trying so will happen sooner than later!!

Bubba Jack fell asleep in the bouncer yesterday(pic) he was a little whingy, I have him a dummy to placate him for another few minutes and I went back and he was sound asleep… so cute!!

He is also giggling and using his throat to make lots of noises.. even chatting on FaceTime to Nanna and poppy yesterday! Clever little man!!

He had his 4mth vaccinations yesterday and now weighs 6.7kg and is 65cm long!

He loves his brothers and is laughing at them or with them…

He still has blue eyes currently, fingers crossed they stay like that but as he looks like me hopefully they will!’

T poos on the toilet

For the second time and it was a winner!! Woohoo!!!

He has come along way with toilet training and even now with wees he will tell you he needs to go and so I think we can probably move to undies for periods and see how he goes!!

He is also talking so well..

The other day he said “Mummy I can’t reach that far” and “it’s too high up there” kind of sentences which is impressive as he has such an understanding of what he is saying and is able to talk to you in conversation so easily now..

He knows what he wants and doesn’t want…

He currently loves mints and asks “Can I have a Mintie mummy” every time we get in the car…

Then when he sits at the dinner table he says “disgusting” to his meals but then eats them..

He is cranky most days when waking and doesn’t know what he wants.. and talks non stop when gets into bed at night so is going to sleep later each evening!!

He loves to say bum, poo, peanuts(willy), pee pee, boobs…. calls us “silly pumpkin head”! Ahhh the joys of boys!!!

He is quite defiant and a real handful currently, he can be so cute though then such a handful at times!! He is quite strong willed and hot headed knowing what he wants and doesn’t want.. this now causes fights with his brother, Will taunts him and he doesn’t let it happen anymore so it’s on for young and old from early!! He is easily lead by Will!!

He is riding his balance bike so well as I think his legs are getting longer with a little growth spurt!!

He loves a baby chino and would prefer savoury to sweet!

His best buddy at Daycare is Oliver Dash(Oli) he talks about riding bikes with Oli it is very sweet!!

Day from… Thursdays be like 😖😫😤

So today I had a really bad mummies day…

We got to North Harbour Reserve after many threats not to go for the play date with Soren..

The boys were all playing nicely and I was a little surprised with Will and Soren sitting around “chatting” for a lot of the time..

When I was approached by another mother to ask me “are they your boys?” I reply with a tentative “yes”! She informs me that they are asking her to “show us your boobies”! You can imagine the look on my face and escalation on my nerves!! I had stern words with the boys asking why they would ask that and made them apologise for such rude behaviour.

I drove home completely frazzled and exhausted by my two oldest children, and are only 2 and 4!!

The combination of attitude, back chat, taunting, rough play, hitting and aggression is unnerving me and putting my stress to levels I don’t think I have ever experienced!!

Thursday last week was somewhat similar and so I am needing to get smarter than them and preempt such behaviour and strategies to stop it early…

Morning play consisted of trains, new train track and colouring so what else can I do.. it’s not lack of entertainment or engagement..

Tonight I’ve been called an Ogre and Silly old women.. ride the waves I guess…..

Quote of the day “what doin Will? What does it look like I’m doing Toby? Fixin the car! Yes that’s right” (playing with a lego car!) they can be cute!!

Mother’s Day 2018

The day started typically early with both older boys waking before 6am. We gave Mummy her presents which included a new pit of soft warm fluffy slippers, a corkcicle coffee cup, a new outdoor gas heater and then the massage table with vouchers for a 1hr in house massage from Daddy each month for the next year.

We then cooked Mummy her brekky smash mash avacado, egg, bacon, feta cheese and tomatoes on Berkelo bread and also some nice bakery goodies also from Berkelo. Later in the day we visited Son and Paul’s place where the we had a great lunch with Mum and Dad! It was fun!

Mummy’s new Fire Pit

Will and Daddy put together Mummy’s new future pit early this morning and after Daddy went to collect (lots) of firewood from Dean & Annabelle (for a case of Corona) we got it up and running this afternoon to the absolute delight of Will, Tobes and the neighbours Sienna and Catriona.

Ouuuch!! Diverticulitis is back!!

Geoff’s diverticulitis is back with a vengeance! Started coming on on Mon/Tues and by Wednesday afternoon the tummy pains were bad. A week of clear fluids and flagyl is on the agenda. Not fun. Here’s a beautiful pic of Granny Jude with Toby when she visited this morning:

And with Jack:

Nattie turns 42

So it wasn’t the most amazing birthday but the love was there. Geoff is sick and Will wasn’t well behaved at all today. We gave Mummy a new pair of sunnies (Raybans), a foot spa and a fire pit.
